All of last week I was elbow deep in chopped vegetables, ground masalas and multiple bowls of french fries to see which one was crispiest. There were moments of euphoria because something finally tasted right and then of despair because I had to throw away a batch. And there was Denver to make sure I kept my sanity through it all. All this because I was hosting a 5 course, pre-plated, Secret Supper for four couples on Saturday.
It all started with Denver and I attending a Lebanese Cooking Workshop organized by a strong community of like minded couples called Couple of Us a few months ago. We fell in love with the concept and instantly got along with the founders Rhea and Sid, who call themselves explorers, gastro maniacs, movie buffs and google chefs all rolled into two. For us, they are also close friends now. One more meet-up (this time a bartending class) later, Rhea and Sid were sitting in our living room one day inviting us to host a supper for Couple of Us. We said yes and that’s that.
Guys, this was definitely THE most exciting thing I’ve ever done. Four very interesting couples, a gorgeous terrace garden in the middle of a bustling locality far away from everything else, and an evening filled with peals of laughter – I couldn’t have asked for a better setting for the meal that I had put together. I can go on and on about how it all went, but instead, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
