Saute chopped ginger and onions in ghee.

Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt.

Add moong dal and water

Pressure cook

Check to make sure the dal is cooked through.

Keep the dal on a slow simmer and mix garam masala and coriander.

For the tadka, saute smashed garlic cloves in ghee

Add green chillies and whole red chillies

Add jeera and the curry leaves and turn off the flame

Add the tadka to the dal. Serve hot.
