Air Fryer Potato Chips

These air fryer potato chips as crispy, light, and crunchy as it's packaged counterparts, but this one's made from scratch in the air fryer which makes it a whole lot cleaner and healthier ❤️

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes peeled & sliced into very thin roundels, refer note 1
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon cooking oil divided
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Take sliced potatoes in a large bowl with ice cold water. Rinse twice and drain the water. Refer note 2.

  • Spread the drained potato slices as a single layer on a kitchen towel and pat dry. Refer note 2.
  • Preheat the airfryer to 180C and brush the basket with a few drops of oil..
    ½ - 1 teaspoon cooking oil, ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • Take the potato slices on a wide plate, brush with ½ teaspoon of oil and add salt. Toss them well to make sure that all slices are oiled & salted.
  • Spread the potato slices in the airfryer basket in a single layer while avoiding them from overlapping each other to ensure even frying.
  • Air fry for 10 minutes at 150C, tossing them every 3-4 minutes. Brush with a few drops of oil if they get dry.
  • Air fry them for 2 minutes at 170C for them to turn golden & crisp. Take it out of the airfryer immediately and serve.
  • Repeat the same for the rest of the potato slices.

Notes

  1. Use a mandolin on lowest setting (1) or a sharp knife to slice potatoes into very thin rounds for best results.
  2. This step is important to remove the excess starch in potatoes which helps in air frying them into crispy chips.
  3. Till the time you use them, keep sliced potatoes soaked in water, drain, dry & then use or else they turn brown.
