A glass of Virgin Apple Iced Tea with slices of apple inside

Lemon Iced Tea is probably the most popular version of iced tea out there. And I love it! But my go to iced tea is always going to be this Apple Iced Tea. It’s spiced with cinnamon and cloves and is so refreshing on a hot summer day. This is inspired by a drink I had at a skin clinic where they’d serve this as a welcome drink. And that sweet, cinnamon flavour laced with tea and apple in the background was so so good.

My sister and I ended up recreating this at home and the rest is history. I make pitchers of this when guests come home. My friends have made this. Friends of friends have made this and it is always a hit. Super simple, short ingredient list but the result is insanely good!

Ingredients You’ll Need To Make Apple Iced Tea

Picture of all the ingredients forI Apple Iced Tea with text to identify them
  • Tea: Any generic black tea will work here. Stay away from Earl Grey because it has a flavour of its own.
  • Apple juice: Any store-bought red apple juice
  • Spices: I have used cinnamon, cardamom and clove. These whole spices add a nice woody flavour and aroma to the iced tea.
  • Sugar: Regular white sugar works best. Maple syrup or jaggery may be a good swap
  • Apple slices: Thinly sliced sweet red apple slices used as garnish. I use Fuji apples as they have a nice, tart sweetness that I really like in my iced tea.
  • Mint leaves: Just for garnish

Richa’s top tips to make the best Apple iced tea

  • If you are using honey, don’t add it in while the water and spice mixture is still on the gas. Turn off the gas and then stir it in to prevent it from getting toxic.
  • You can brew the tea in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Simply add in the apple juice and garnish before serving.
  • Since summer’s right around the corner, you can even make the apple iced tea and freeze it in popsicle moulds for a refreshing summer treat.

Make this before summer ends. And make an extra pitcher or two because I guarantee this will go fast!
