Chilli Prawn Noodles Ingredients Overview

This chilli garlic prawn noodles require just a handful of ingredients, all of which are very easily available both at stores and online. I have used hakka noodles and frozen prawns for this recipe, but you could opt for fresh prawns if you so prefer. This recipe also uses ketchup, soy sauce, chilli oil, and oyster sauce for lots of flavor and spice, along with veggies like cabbage, garlic, and spring onions (both whites and greens) for flavor and aroma.

Richa’s Top Tips

  • I prefer to use small/medium-sized prawns for this recipe. While any size of prawns would work, I would recommend staying away from king or tiger prawn.
  • If you are using frozen prawns, it’s important to defrost them properly. Check out this article to learn about all the different ways to defrost prawns safely
  • Make sure to boil the noodles for a minute less than what’s mentioned on the package to prevent them being overcooked and clumpy as they will look along with the prawns and sauces.
  • Make sure to keep everything ready before you start cooking as this dish goes very fast once it’s on the stove.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add other veggies to this dish?

Absolutely! I have just cabbage and spring onions, but you can use whatever veggies you like. Some other vegetables that would work well in this recipe are capsicum, beans, carrot, mushroom, and baby corn.

What other protein can I add to this recipe?

You can add any protein of your choice. Some fried or sauteed chicken, sausages, bacon, as well as paneer all taste really good in this recipe. However switching up the protein in this recipe will also change the cooking time, so make sure to adjust accordingly.

What can I serve with these chilli garlic prawn noodles?

This prawn noodle dish tastes delicious as is, but there are so many different ways to serve it. You can serve it with some spring rolls or veg or chicken momos for a lovely bite. These noodles taste really good with my chicken manchow soup.

I made these chilli prawn noodles for a dinner I was hosting for my friends last week and it turned out to be such a hit with everyone! And I learnt these noodles disappear VERY quickly, so be sure to make a large batch.
