Okay so what’s the deal with smoothies? Do they have to have dairy or some kind of plant milk? I’m thinking blended, smooth, cold, refreshing works as smoothie too. Which is exactly what this recipe is. And why its so perfect for summer!

There is really nothing for me to do here today, except convince you that this watermelon lime smoothie cum slushie will change every day life for you. You’ll start waking up and thinking about it. Because when it gets hot and sweaty (which it sort of already is), a big glass of this waiting in the fridge will make you grin!

It’s super simple. I like to use watermelon cubes and frozen strawberries. Strawberries work so well with watermelon and also add a dose of fiber. And frozen strawberries are always available in the freezer section. A squirt of honey and some lime or lemon juice. A couple of ice cubes and everything goes into the blender.

This looks prettier once its blended. The frozen strawberries make this creamier and the extra ice cubes make it colder. A quick two minutes in the blender and we’ve got a slushie bubble situation.

And then we just pour it into extra tall glasses. To be SERVED IMMEDIATELY. Because who can resist!

Now seriously can anybody resist?

I’ve also tried adding orange juice which is amazing because it adds an extra level of tartness. Or some mint and basil – they will transport you to your favourite beach with lounge chairs and all. Or add a shot of tequila while blended for a quick and easy Watermelon Lime Margarita. I’ve even tried adding frozen banana and before you make a face, let me tell you that it’s not bad at all! Raspberries add an amazing flavour, but blueberries just change the colour to a muddy brown. I like this glass the pretty pink it is.

The possibilities are endless. And you’ll be tossing back glass after glass after the first time you try it! Yum!
