Or rather we've moved. To a quaint little town called Auroville, near Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu.
I'm interrupting our usual commentary around food and recipes to share a little bit about this incredible life change that we are going through right now.
Denver and I have been talking about moving from Bangalore for a while now. Actually this happened one afternoon in May when we were both really frustrated with how the day was going, how he was spending so much time in traffic and how there was so much more to life. And it was amazing how both of us were so in sync with this thought. We were okay to leave the city and make a shift in life where we move to a smaller town.
At that time, I'm sure neither of us knew if the other one was serious. But we had the same conversation the next day and the day after that, and it just stuck. Plans evolved and we zeroed in on Auroville.
I knew I could work from anywhere, and my only condition was that we stay near a beach. Denver is an engineer and a total geek. He wanted to live in a place where he'd have an opportunity to work on hands on engineering projects so Auroville was perfect. It's quiet, not too many people, the beach is 10 mins away from our new home, and there are a ton of projects going on here.
We started visiting Auroville over the weekends (those of you whole follow MFS on Instagram know that!) and found this gorgeous house that we now call home.
It's been three days and we are still in awe of how lucky we got! Thats my kitchen and yesssss it's open on two sides. Ignore the mess please - this is a day into moving here. It's also got a barbecue pit outside that we plan on using very very soon.
This decision was easy and tough at the same time. It meant that we had to leave Bangalore, a city that we both love. Our amazing friends who we hope will come visit us soon. The life that we had built - our beautiful apartment. Denver's job - he's spent ten years with the company. Our family - we have a lot of them in Bangalore and we love the times we've spent with them.
At the same time, we both believed in what we were doing from the start and really wanted this to happen. I'm glad that there were no second thoughts, no doubts..maybe a few, specifically about how I was going to live with creepy crawlies, and no pressure. I now make enough from blogging to be able to support us both financially and so we could actually take the plunge.
It's been three days since we moved and every bit has been amazing. Its peaceful, restful and suddenly there is so much time in the day.
We've been spending time mostly unpacking, at our own pace, watering the garden, planting a few new things (that we hope will grow) and making this place a home.
Is this permanent? We don't know right now. We've given ourselves a year to explore and enjoy this move. After that, we'll see.
All I can say is that life is already looking good. Here are some pictures of our little place for you to enjoy.
Its quaint, rustic, basic and its ours for the time.
